Which strap material is the most resistant and durable?

When it comes to durability, stainless steel is a particularly robust choice, offering excellent resistance to water, sweat, and everyday wear. However, each material has its own strengths: Textile is more flexible and highly resistant to tearing, while scratches and minor surface wear are often less noticeable on fabric. Mesh combines flexibility with breathable strength. Leather and cork offer natural resilience and can maintain their durability with proper care.

Which strap material is the most comfortable for sensitive skin?

Cork is lightweight, soft to the touch, and naturally comfortable against the skin. However, skin sensitivity depends on the complete strap construction, including the backing material, adhesives, and buckle. If you have a known sensitivity, check the specific product materials before wearing it.

Can I wear my cork strap for running or during my daily workout?

Cork is lightweight and flexible, but we do not recommend using a cork strap for intense workouts where it will be exposed to heavy sweat, repeated soaking, or significant physical abrasion. For regular daily wear and light activity, cork can be a comfortable option.

When wearing any strap for workouts, keep in mind that the watch head itself also has specific care requirements: while quartz watches are generally resistant to movement like jogging or running, it is better to avoid jogging with automatic watches, as the intense mechanical shock and vibrations can damage their internal parts.

Additionally, you should always take your watch off for high-impact sports or any activities where the case or glass could be heavily scratched or shattered.

Is the cork strap suitable for swimming in the pool or the ocean?

No, we recommend avoiding swimming with a cork strap. Cork is naturally water-repellent, but that does not make a finished cork strap completely waterproof, and prolonged immersion can allow moisture to penetrate the material and its construction. Pool chlorine and ocean salt can also affect the strap over time. If the strap gets wet, rinse it with fresh water and allow it to dry naturally.

Can I wear my cork strap in the sauna, or do heat and humidity affect it?

We recommend taking your watch off before entering a sauna. While cork itself has good thermal resistance and is not immediately damaged by normal heat, a watch strap is a finished construction and the extreme combination of heat and humidity can affect its materials and adhesives. The watch head is also vulnerable to extreme temperature and humidity.

What is the best way for cleaning and washing my cork strap?

For regular cleaning, gently wipe the cork surface with a soft cloth lightly dampened with water and, if needed, a small amount of mild soap. Do not soak or submerge the strap, and avoid aggressive detergents, solvents, or abrasive brushes. After cleaning, let it air-dry naturally at room temperature, away from direct heat.

What should I do if my cork strap becomes discoloured over time?

Some change in appearance over time is natural with cork. The surface can develop a slightly different tone or patina through regular use, while sweat, oils, and dirt can also make it look darker or duller.
